Good things come to those who wait.

And as audience members it seems we have been doing a lot of that recently, waiting in anticipation for updates and releases on some of our favourite shows; has it been renewed for another season? When can we watch the next episode? Is that actor coming back or are they moving on to new projects?

When rumours surface that a series is being eyed up by some fanciful creator, there is an excitement in the air. Particularly when that series is based off a much adored or beloved source material, and said fanciful creator has an artistic flair you quite admire.

Of course, source materials can be a protected property and fans of the original piece of work can lose their appetite if the wrong people get behind the adaptation. Other times, it seems almost kismet, as the right people develop the right project.

Here's a friendly reminder of eight TV adaptations currently under production that are set to hit our small screens soon. Be sure to dust off your streaming service accounts because these are going to be some hits you'd be mad to miss.

8. The Lord Of The Rings - Amazon

Peter Jackson's epic trilogy still holds up to this day as an accomplishment in grand-scale storytelling and visual effects. Adapting or remaking such a series of films might seem like a bad idea on paper, but given the wealth of source material in J.R.R Tolkien's work, it couldn't hurt to expand on some corners of the films fans didn't see.

The Lord Of The Rings series, coming to Amazon Prime, has been in production for quite some time now and that's assuredly a good thing. Knowing this series isn't being rushed onto the screens proves that studio minds behind the project are taking their time and doing this right. With something as big as this, I'm sure viewers would be willing to wait until it's complete.

Amazon has had a great run with its current adapted content, and there is no doubt the adapted TV series of The Lord Of The Rings will be any different. With new actors (and supposedly new characters) brought into the fold, there's very little risk of die-hard fans of the original trilogy seeing their favourite films spoiled by something new.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
