8 Ups & NO Downs From Star Trek: Lower Decks 5.6 - Of Gods And Angles
1. Cetacean Observations
No whales this week, unfortunately, but we did get alt Boimler's PADD again with the 3.7% extra bevel depth. There was a 0.327% variance between the universes in Dos Cerritos so, you know, close enough! The PADD had been red all along, too?! Completely missed that little detail!
We have seen various red PADDs in Star Trek's prime (for want of a better word) universe before. In fact, Commander Riker can be seen using one of the larger ones in Ten Forward in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Lower Decks. Captain Sisko notably used an even bigger version of the red PADD in Image in the Sand. On said red PADD in the present episode, just below the image of alt. T'Ana planting a noogie on alt. Brad, could also be seen a '47' — the most ubiquitous number in any universe.
In The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel, we had one large-small nod to Star Trek: Voyager through the parallel mini-Intrepid-class and its "month of hell". In Of Gods and Angles, we learnt that the Reseda — Ensign Olly's previous ship — was crewed entirely by "reformed Maquis". That doesn't mean just those who traipsed through the Delta Quadrant, of course, but it might include some who did.
