Where did it all go so wrong for Hardy and Miller?! It seemed like the entire nation was talking about Broadchurch when its first series caught us completely off guard by becoming the most gripping murder mystery in British television history. It was so good, in fact, that viewers punched the air with exasperated glee with the surprise announcement that it would be returning for a second series. Cut to 2015 and we were all punching our screens when its highly publicised comeback was as anticlimactic as that Bruce Jenner interview. It wasn't bad, it wasn't boring, it just wasn't the same, and Alec Hardy's deteriorating health wasn't the only reason his complicated characterisation was all over the place. In retrospect, perhaps they should've just quit while they were ahead. Which is why it'll be returning for a third series in 2017. Oh dear.
