Yes, it's that Neil Gaiman again! The seminal Sandman series that made the writer's name back in the early 1990s is currently under works as a film (produced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, no less). However, great as it will be to finally have Sandman on screen, I can't help thinking that maybe production should halt on this project and that Sandman should be made into a TV series instead. The comics are famous for their breadth and depth, something that a single film, or even a film series, would struggle to do justice to (although the budget of a multi-million dollar movie would obviously be a plus). It is far better then to have the mythical saga of Morpheus, Lord of Dreams, told in a serial format, just as the comics were. Alternatively, if the Sandman movie does go ahead, a TV spin-off series could feature Death, the Sandman's perky sister. Death was a breakout character of the comic and even headed her own graphic novel The High Cost of Living - in which she temporarily becomes human - so we know the character can work on her own.
