This wasn't the first time Matt has showcased his vocal abilities to a baying crowd. After leaving Doctor Who he took to the West End stage as serial killer Patrick Bateman in American Psycho and there's a never ending plethora of YouTube videos featuring him and Karen Gillan breaking out into song at any given opportunity. Look out for their performance of the Doctor Who theme tune, in particular. Steven Moffat missed out on writing them a musical episode.
