In Billie Piper's defence, she was just the tender age of 15 years old when she was offered a record deal after appearing in a Smash Hits advert. Not many teenagers would throw away the opportunity to become an overnight pop sensation but something tells us Billie soon regretted her decision to prance around a stage as she mimed along to a song about doing things because you want to. Why else would you do anything, Billie?! Oh, and the corset in the video above doesn't make any sense to us, either. Still, it wasn't a complete disaster. Her debut single made her the youngest solo female artist to debut at #1 and her first album became platinum in New Zealand. Not multi-platinum, of course, but it's closer to conquering the charts than any of us will ever get. Needless to say, she retired indefinitely from the music career in the early 2000s. Because she wanted to. Shame.
