9 Game Of Thrones Characters Who Need Spin-Off Shows

3. Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane

Game Of Thrones Tyrion
HBO

One of the most compelling side characters in the whole series, the Hound first appeared in episode one as Prince Joffrey’s personal bodyguard and lasted through to the penultimate episode, where he engaged in an epic final showdown with his older brother, Ser Gregor ‘the Mountain’ Clegane. He had a curious character arc, a true villain throughout, but who somewhat redeemed his soul in later episodes, as a warmth and honour in his character shone through and his affection for Arya Stark apparent.

We also saw earlier glimpses of this as Sandor chose to try and protect Arya’s sister Sansa from the horrors that King Joffrey and his mother Cersei bestowed on her. A backstory showing the Hound’s life through to the beginning of Game Of Thrones, where he is considered one of the strongest combat warriors alive, would be welcome. His relationship with his brother who burned him in a fire as a child could be explored in full.

The grotesque facial scars the Hound carries from his brother’s attack are a constant reminder of the past, and he subsequently has a deep-rooted fear of fire which comes back to haunt in every battle he fights in. Their childhood and teenage years together would be violent and no doubt make for interesting viewing, while his formative years fighting as a banner man and trusted soldier for Tywin Lannister during the war of Robert's Rebellion would also undoubtedly be intriguing.
