9 Most Common Types Of Doctor Who Fan

2. The Shipper

These are the social media fiends. You can usually spot one a mile off because they're profile picture is a photo of the Tenth Doctor and Rose starring passionately into each other's eyes and their bio reads "DAVID AND BILLIE ARE MY BAES". Seriously. Generally speaking, they watch Doctor Who for one overriding purpose, and that's to "ship" one of its characters or OTPs (that's One True Pairings, if you didn't know). It can be somewhat difficult to find a genuine love story in Doctor Who, though, given that the protagonist is a 2,000 year old alien, but that's never stopped the shippers before and it certainly won't stop them in the future. It's widely regarded by these fans that any Doctor Who love story is "still a better love story than Twilight" and the most popular of the revived series is the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler who are generally acknowledged as the greatest sci-fi couple of all time. And what!? It doesn't have to be legitimate on screen couples, either. These days if two characters even so much as briefly brush shoulders then they're bound to have a group of fans "shipping" their immediate companionship. These fans devote their time to creating photo mash ups - and now, thanks to Tumblr, GIFs - of their beloved couple partaking in varying levels of passion. Fanfiction is another platform for them to explore the 'what if', too, and some of them have been known to get very risqué indeed.
