1. The Leftovers
Here he is again! The list started off with him so it might as well end with him, too, right? He doesn't like to bathe in the same river twice but thankfully he still seems hell bent on getting wet (so to speak!) as Christopher Eccleston will be back on the small screen once again in The Leftovers which will be returning to HBO and Sky Atlantic for its second season later this year. Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, the dystopian thriller takes place three years after a global event resulted in the unexplainable disappearance of 2% of the world's population. Christopher joins the coveted cast ensemble as Matt Jamison, a former reverend who spent most of Season 1 struggling to accept that he, as a devout Christian, wasn't taken in the 'Sudden Departure' while many 'sinners' were. If you missed Season 1 then you should definitely get involved before its highly anticipated comeback. Critics lauded the first season for including some of the finest pieces of TV drama in 2014 and Christopher's performance in particular has been heralded as one of his finest and most human to date. That's probably because he actually is playing a human this time, as opposed to a 900 year old alien in a blue box, but it's definitely a new side to him that his fans will have never seen before. Seriously worth checking out. What did you think of this list? Are there any other upcoming TV shows starring Doctor Who actors that everyone should check out?
