9 Star Trek Characters Who Deserve A Spin-Off Series

8. Captain Rachel Garrett

As depicted in the now classic Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Yesterday's Enterprise, Captain Rachel Garrett was meant to die while she and the crew of the Enterprise-C were protecting a Klingon outpost from a Romulan attack.

When her ship was accidentally displaced in time, she died several decades later onboard the Enterprise-D as that crew was engaged in a losing war against the Klingons. However, the crew of the Enterprise-C and an alternate version of Tasha Yar that wasn't supposed to exist, decided to travel back in time and fight the battle as history recorded it.

Instead of a TV series, the story of Captain Rachel Garrett and her crew would be better served by a trilogy of made-for-TV movies. Each movie would depict a single, crucial mission in the Enterprise-C's history. Each mission would see Captain Garrett and her crew making life-and-death decisions and wrestling with the moral questions that would shape them into the kind of crew that would willingly put themselves in danger to protect others, even enemies.

The final movie would end on a melancholy note as Captain Garrett orders her helm officer to set course for the Klingon outpost and answer the distress call. The final shot would be the Enterprise-C jumping to warp as Captain Garrett and her crew prepare to face their destiny.
