9 Stupidly Risky Plans From TV's Most Notorious Villains
7. The Governor Welcomes Andrea Back The Walking Dead
While TV's Philip Blake proved to be a divisive character among the Walking Dead fandom, he must be respected as the first true antagonist Rick and his group faced. He wasn't morally conflicted like Shane he was a bad man who enjoyed being bad, and wanted to put an end to Rick and his Prison-based group. In the midst of these two warring factions, infuriatingly, was Andrea. It's no secret Andrea wasn't liked by the viewers with her barely thought-out umming-and-ahhing and ridiculous penchant for excusing the Governor's psychopathic mores with cookie-cutter truisms, what the writers thought was an engaging display of moral conflict just ended up getting on everyone's wick. However, when she went over to the Prison, we thought she might've hardened up and picked a side after so much waivering. Alas not she soon travels back to the Prison and reunites with the Governor, who's well aware of her poorly-thought-out moral conflict and departure, but still needs her as a go-between to establish negotiations with his enemies. So far, that's a pretty solid play from the Woodbury chief he's willing to tolerate one potentially mutinous subject because of her strategic value. But what he then does beggars belief he takes her back into his bed, where obviously, by virtue of needing to sleep, he'll be unguarded. Remember, this is a woman who's having second thoughts about her new beau, and has been over to the other side to discuss it. The Governor knows this, but still elects to stay with her instead of keeping her safely under guard while trying to discern her loyalty. If Andrea had followed through on Carol's grand plan to kill him in his post-shag sleep, Philip would've had no-one to blame but himself. There's keeping your enemies close, then there's allowing them to sleep with and next to you there's a difference, and fortunately for the Governor, he didn't find this out the hard way, because much like everything else, Andrea couldn't even do this right.
