Looking back at the nine-seasons Medical-Comedy Scrubs, most people will remember Zach Braff's character very fondly. Dr. John Dorian, or JD as he was known on the show, started out as a very goofy, lovable young intern, and grow into an accomplished ICU attending. Nevertheless, with his constant daydreaming and his own little fantasy world constantly interrupting his stream of thought, he may not be your best pick for a skilled physician. Doctor Perry Ulysses Cox (portrayed by John C McGinley), on the other hand, is a person you can definitely trust in your time of need. While Scrubs focused on JD as the show's leading man, Dr. Cox was Sacred Heart's leading doctor. From day one, he acts as JD's mentor and a role model for young interns. Corresponding with other brilliant TV doctors, he's bitter, insulting, and very cocky will break every hospital rule in order to help out a patient (reminds you of anyone? Just don't tell him). In one episode Cox is actually compared to House by the Chief of Medicine, who says, "Oh Perry, you are so edgy and cantankerous; like House without the limp". This is further explored in another episode where Cox acquires a temporary limp before strutting into a room and solving everything. Looking at Cox's career reveals that he was voted best physician by "local medical journal" and was named the Chief of Medicine during the eighth season, during which he refused to stop seeing patients and give in to administrative duties. McGinley revealed to Hollywood.com that one of the challenges of playing Dr. Cox was accurately portraying the MD's intellect: "Dr. Cox, SAT- and IQ-wise, runs circles around me", he said. So whose hands would you trust with your care: the intelligent, confident, narcissist, yet secretly caring doctor, or the one who bumps into walls?
