3. Quality Over Quantity
It's a widely accepted fact that less is more but unfortunately this is something that Torchwood managed to forget throughout the entirety of its ill-fated fourth series. In their defence, though, you can forgive them for getting cocky. Their third series, Children of Earth, abandoned the 'monster of the week' format in favour of a single, bookended story told over 5 extended episodes and the new format was met with fan and critical acclaim upon its premiere back in 2009 to suggest that Torchwood had finally found its feet. As such, they built on the phenomena by giving fans a story told over a colossal 10 episodes for Miracle Day, however it ultimately failed to live up to its own expectations and the momentum of the first episodes quickly fizzled out into the realms of unnecessary subplots and lacklustre filler episodes. The new audio series will consist of 6 episodes so it sounds like they'll be going back to basics, but "back to basics" is exactly what Torchwood needs right now. You can always rely on Big Finish!
