9 Times The Simpsons Predicted The Future

4. Donald Trump Runs For President

The only way you'll have heard of this one is via listicles like this since it's from Bart To The Future, the second of the future-shock episodes put together by The Simpsons and a very poor relation of Lisa's Wedding. Bart is in a band with Ralph, Lisa's the President, and for some reason Homer goes on a gold hunt around the White House. The first thing President Lisa needs to do, however, is sort out a fiscal crisis caused by the - gasp shock horror wow heavens -Trump administration which preceded her.

It turns out that President Trump decided to invest in the nation's children - a "big mistake" according to the Secretary of State, Milhouse.

Apparently, "The Balanced Breakfast Program just created a generation of ultra-strong super criminals", while "Midnight Basketball taught them to function without sleep."

All that said, these are pretty much the only decent jokes in the whole episode, so hopefully this is about as close as you'll ever need to get to it.

People are getting a bit het up about a completely unrelated trailer for season 25, in which there's a bit where Donald Trump goes down an escalator in exactly the same way as he once did in real life. I don't really see how he could have gone down an escalator much differently, aside from comically scrambling up/down while on the down/up escalator, but at any rate that bit of footage came out about a month after Trump announced his candidacy for the Republican party and made his way down an escalator so it's a load of fuss over nothing.
