5. Stargate And Its Spin-Offs
This is a very different one. I think Stargate SG-1 was a decent TV show, it was relatively stable and had a semi-decent story running throughout (until Jack ONeill was no longer part of SG-1 and took over the SGC, that was a step too far). When Atlantis was discovered things started to change quite quickly. Atlantis brought together bit parts from SG-1 and some newbies to the stage but it never had the same feel, it felt strange and off-message. It felt like it had departed what was once Stargate quite a bit. Shortly after we had the spin-off Stargate Universe, which was lacking a lot of things, however it had picked up Robert Carlyle in the lead role. It had a very different tone to the others and as a result had only two seasons. Both these shows seemed to almost completely forget their roots and tried to do their own thing. This would have been better done under a new name, not carrying on the Stargate name.
