9 TV Shows That Seriously Lost The Plot

6. Arrested Development

The first three seasons of Arrested Development were great. They were funny, the characters were relatable and very, very watch-able. So what went wrong? The real issue with Arrested Development wasn't that it went on too long (like other shows on this list), it wasn't due to character changes or a drop in the quality of writing, but due to the fact that it was picked up by another production company after it had been left dormant for a number of years €“ Netflix. Whilst Netflix had great success with its original content such as House of Cards (the American reboot of the original BBC series), it took on an already existing show and built on it. It received mixed reviews, but for me I think it went off the deep end. The first 3 seasons all had Michael as the sane, stable member of the Bluth family. Season 4, however, had him fall into the bucket of crazy that the Bluth family live in, and this disrupted the equilibrium. There was no real balance any more, it was just a bunch of self obsessed crazy people, now with even more crazy that had developed between series. It was a real shame as there are some good episodes hidden in there, but as a whole, I think it went too far off what Arrested Development was in the first place.
