9 Upcoming TV Shows Based On Movies (That Will Probably Suck)

6. The Notebook

The Exorcist TV
New Line Cinema

2004's The Notebook, based on Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same name, was a weepy romance that didn't leave a dry eye in the cinema, and started the world's love affair with Ryan Gosling.

It was revealed back in August last year that The CW were turning the movie into a TV series, and earlier this year that they'd hired new writers to redevelop it.

Although The CW are known for soapy dramas with casts of pretty young things, it's hard to see The Notebook really working over the course of an entire, possibly 20+ episode season. The film was helped by having two excellent leads in Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the sort of talent the series would struggle to attract. Add in that it'd be really dragging the story out, and a lack of audience outside of those diehard Tumblr fans of the film (and there's a chance they'll hate it too) and this one seems likely to suck.
