9 Ups & NO Downs From Star Trek: Lower Decks 5.9 - Fissure Quest

8. UP — Defiant's Class

Somehow, it does feel right that Section 31 would use a Defiant-class for its work. There's nothing innately nefarious about its particular type, but if you want the clandestine job done well with something that packs a "punch," few other ships fit the bill. The one from Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus also had a cloaking device, which, Section 31 or no, always helps.

It was an absolute highlight of the season to see this little ship back in action. Moreover, this was the first time since What You Leave Behind that we'd been treated to full interiors. Bridge, corridors, quarters, engineering, sickbay, they were all there, beautifully animated, in Fissure Quest.

A touch of class and Cardassian sass, it could only ever have been right for Alexander Siddig and Andrew Robinson to make their Trek comeback within a Defiant's hallowed halls. There was also, only fittingly, a Dax at the helm and notes of Deep Space Nine in a fantastic score from Chris Westlake throughout.
