Though the visual effects are disappointingly rough at times, the overall production quality is thankfully as gorgeously robust as ever, particularly in terms of the sets, costume design and cinematography.

Locations such as the Hotel Denouement are brought to evocative life thanks to a combination of all the above, not to mention slick direction from Jonathan Teplitzky, Liza Johnson, Barry Sonnenfeld and Bo Welch, making the most of the vibrant source material in the process.

Considering how much these stories mean to fans, to see them rendered so beautifully on-screen is massively rewarding, even if with a little more time or money (or perhaps both?), the CGI could've done even better justice to Handler's vision.
