Agent Carter: 10 Easter Eggs And References You Need To See
8. Lucky Star Cab Company
Along with introducing new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's stable of superheroic cast members, Agent Carter also riffs on its history. The first episode opens with clips from Captain America: The First Avengers, explicitly picking up Peggy's story where it left off from that film's ending, as her lover Steve Rogers plummeted himself into the chilly waters of the Arctic ocean. There are references to Cap throughout, specifically with the hilariously off-base radio serials very loosely based off of the First Avenger's World War II escapades, with Peggy characterised as a dumb blonde damsel in distress. One of the more subtle connections to Captain America appears throughout both episodes. It appears that the alternate universe New York Agent Carter is set in is patronised by only one taxi syndicate: the Lucky Star Cab Company. Why is that important? Because it was similarly pervasive throughout Captain America: The First Avenger, with the door from a cab being torn off and used as an improvised shield during that first chase scene.
