Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Best Villains

3. Hive

Agents of SHIELD Calvin Zabo
ABC

Easily one of the series' most chilling villains, Hive started life as a Mayan who crossed paths with the Kree on Earth only to be subjected to Terrigenesis. Becoming one of the planet's first Inhumans - armed with the ability to control minds via parasites, no less - Hive was ultimately exiled to another planet, forced to wait for the day he could return back home.

And thanks to the efforts of Gideon Malick, Grant Ward, and all the fine folks at HYDRA, he was able to halfway through the third season, using the body of the recently-deceased Ward as a vessel and his dangerous abilities to sway even Daisy to his cause. Often calm and collected, Hive was pitch-perfectly sinister and creepy, and came pretty close to seeing his Terrigen plans come to fruition.

In the end, though, Hive was outplayed by Lincoln, who locked Hive with him in the Quinjet Daisy had smuggled the bomb into before sending them into space together. As the two stared out over Earth as the bomb's clock ticked down, Hive revealed that he had simply believed what he was doing was right, and that even though he failed he was ready to finally embrace death, sending one of the series' most dangerous characters out on a surprisingly quiet, poignant, and affecting note.
