Agents Of SHIELD: 8 Mistakes It Needs To Fix In Season 3
2. Higher Stakes
The stakes on the show can't get too high, because at some point in a devastating, earth-destroying plotline there's going to be the question of 'wait, why can't they just bring in the Avengers?' That is something, it seems, that may be holding the show back a bit. Season 1 of the show was ultimately about Skye, and season 2 of the show was ultimately about, well, Skye. Now that she has her superpowers, and is putting together a team of agents with similar abilities, they have an opportunity to go bigger with the types of stories they tell and the threats that they face. Maybe it can't be saving the world from total chaos and destruction, but they can still introduce larger threats, involving villains with superpowers, or more to do with the alien race Kree, that you can solve without the obvious need for Iron Man and co, but still manages to really raise the stakes compared to what we've seen thus far.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
