Agents Of Shield: 8 Things That Will Need To Change After Captain America 2
6. Melinda May's Secret Assignment
The end of Yes Men saw Melinda May reporting in about Agent Coulson but not who she was speaking to. Given May's history, she probably isn't a HYDRA agent or someone working for the Clairvoyant. This means that she can be reporting to only one person Nick Fury. Connecting May to Fury is an interesting way of making sure that despite the events of The Winter Soldier that Fury continues to trust the team under Coulson. The events of T.A.H.I.T.I. also revealed that Fury has a series of facilities which are not in the SHIELD database where there is one, then are obviously going to be more as seen in the film and where there are facilities, there will also be agents he can trust. If May is in this group of trustworthy agents put together by Fury then she may yet know about the location of these other facilities this is a key link in order to allow the team to continue operating. Otherwise the plane will quickly run out of supplies, and you can't really imagine the series operating out of a single location for an entire season. It was a clever move by the producers to link May to Fury in such a manner in order to help insulate the show from the effects of the film.
