5. Why Are There Names Missing From The Utrax Files?

The file that Erik finds on the Utrax Regenesis trainees doesn't contain a great deal of useful information, but the names of the subjects' parents are a bit peculiar. Every mother is given a first and last name. Similar to Hanna's file, some entries lack information on the father. Others, however, have given the father's surname alone.

While this could be taken as an indication that the mothers simply didn't know the fathers very well, a closer look when Erik scrolls through the more detailed computer profiles reveals otherwise. Every named father has been given a complete physical description, devoid of blanks or estimates.

Further complicating matters are the names of the test subjects themselves. If Regenesis acquired its subjects in the same fashion as the original program, it would be the mothers that ultimately gave up their children. Yet every subject's given name is the same as their father's surname.

The only exception is Trainee 249. While Hanna names her Clara, this name actually doesn't appear anywhere on her profile. She bears the name of a parent, but this name is the same as her father's - Matciewitcz - on only one occasion. Every other time we see her profile, the given name is Mahan - her mother's maiden name.

While likely a simple mistake by the art department, this might just be a subtle indication as to why 249's so different from the rest of the trainees. The fathers given only surnames may be involved with Utrax, their full identities already known to the organization. For whatever reason, 249 has been more associated with her mother. These missing names seem trivial, but they may actually carry huge implications regarding the trainees' backstories.
