American Dad: 5 Greatest Roger Personas

4. Roy Rogers McFreely- Roy Rogers McFreely

Roy Rogers Mcfreely

"out here, I'm the law. You're in McFreely town, Royville... Rogersburg"

Hell hath no fury like a Roger scorned, just ask Stan when he refused to buy grenadine for the drink this next entry was most appropriately named after.

Roy Rogers McFreely was conceived to fill the vacant president post with the Home Owners' association to which Stan had already served the maximum eight terms. During his tenure, Roger set about dismantling all their established regulations through shady back-room deals in an effort undermine Stan's authority and make his life as unpleasant as possible. When Stan retaliates by starting an underground Neighbourhood Watch militia, both groups push each other to ruined front lawns and midnight house-painting anarchy in this extremely petty display of brinkmanship.

'Roy Rogers McFreely' is one in a countless number of episodes where Roger abuses what little power he is given. This time, I rather enjoyed watching him take a pick-axe to Stan's oppressive home-owning regime, even if it is in the name of a shoddy cocktail. Of course it was inevitable that Roger would eventually get defeated and Stan would see the error of his uncompromising ways just in time for everything to return to normal by the end credits, but seeing Stan forced take a step off his pedestal was fun while it lasted.
