American Dad: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best
1. Roger Smith
Can there actually be any debate about this list placing? Roger Smith, almost by default, has to be American Dad's reigning greatest ever character because he isn't just one character. He brings with him the likes of Jeanie Gold, Jenny Fromdabloc, Dr. Penguin, the Legman, and of course, Ricky Spanish.
Every episode sees Roger take on a different character and persona, in some cases more than one, and none of them ever disappoint. So much so that his personas joined together to create an army in the show's 200th episode, essentially bringing about the end of civilisation as we know it.
Even without any disguise, Roger is still the best character in the show. He is a full-tilt, sexually ambiguous and inappropriate diva, who may or may not be in love with Stan and basically thinks the world revolves around him. Even after realising he wasn't the decider of Earth's fate, his ego remained as bloated as ever.
When looking across the adult animation world, there are absolutely no other characters like Roger. No one can carry five different personalities throughout one episode while still keeping his own traits underlying across all of them. This has allowed his character, and American Dad on the whole, to stay fresh all these years.
