You know a show is going to be brutal when the horrific slaying a number of teenagers in an all-too-close hit on school shootings barely makes the top ten spot. This particular mass killing - because in the world of American Horror Story, there are quite a few of them - is highlighted through its POV of troubled shooter Tate (Evan Peters), whose portrayal of the conflicted, desperately dark and broken Tate proved to be a highlight of Murder House for viewers. Tate slaughters his classmates, remorselessly gunning them down in a sequence fraught with tension and fear, even though you already know who doesn't make it through the firefight. Tate then escapes to his house where he is gunned down by a SWAT team, kickstarting the journey of one of American Horror Story's most troubled, dangerous, and charming characters, and an iconic role for Peters.
