Shelley was one of the less memorable side-characters in AHS's repertoire of freaks, geeks, and psychotic murderers, but thanks to a solid performance by Chloe Sevigny, she relishes one of the most horrifying moments in American Horror Story history thanks to the villainous Dr Arthur Arden, a Nazi doctor performing experiments in an American asylum. Shelley, a nymphomaniac banished to the asylum for having extramarital sex, is tortured, mutilated, amputated, and shockingly experimented on by Dr Arden after she finds his... well, manhood, less than adequate following a rape attempt. His overreaction almost kills Shelley as he experiments with the limits of humanity. His previous experiments the Raspers have become monstrous savages chained in the woods outside of Briarcliff and, sadly, Shelley comes out even worse. The possessed Sister Mary Eunice dumps the barely-alive, monstrous Shelley in a school playground; just in time for a young girl to find her and give us one of the most haunting and horrible moments in American Horror Story history.
