6. The Escalation

It's a safe bet to assume that fans of American Horror Story have been counting down the days until they could witness the final showdown between Cordelia and Michael. Ever since the two characters locked eyes in Forbidden Fruit, this is all many of us have been able to think about. The wait is finally over, and boy was it worth waiting for.

The meeting of the two titans is as superb as it needed to be, delivering one of the most expertly paced scenes in the show's eight-season history. It's one thing after another after another, with no time for us to recover in-between. From the Miss Mead android losing her head, to Madison shooting the sh*t out of Michael with the remainder of the droid's arm gun, there is literally no time for viewers to catch their breath.

It only intensifies as the narrative progresses, with Marie Laveau's shocking return, Mallory getting stabbed and Michael blowing Madison's head off. Again, the pacing is truly remarkable, which is shocking because this is something that American Horror Story has had issues with in the past.
