American Horror Story: Apocalypse Finale - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘Apocalypse Then’

5. Mallory Finally Receives Some Character Development

American Horror Story Apocalypse Mallory
FX

If last week's penultimate episode proved anything, it's that newcomer witch Mallory is an incredibly one-dimensional character. Despite being heavily featured - at the expense of greater characters - we know next to nothing about her, and this makes it hard to like her, as well as making it hard to buy into the notion that she's going to be the one to save the world.

As always, Murphy manages to fix the problem in just the nick of time. Throughout Apocalypse Then, viewers get to know more about the mysterious witch, and well as having the opportunity to watch her cope with the stress that saving the world from impending danger can bring. The character is developed incredibly well in this final instalment, and by the end of it, you might even find yourself championing her. This is the character development we've been waiting for.

It does beg the question why the showrunners decided to wait until the eleventh hour to further strengthen one of Apocalypse's most significant characters, but for now we'll simply be grateful for the small mercies.
