4. Marie Laveau & Delphine LaLaurie Make Surprise Appearances

While this season of American Horror Story has seen plenty of our favourite characters from seasons gone by pop up all over the place, there are quite a few other characters that have been notably absent from the storyline. Apocalypse Then largely rectifies this, by bringing back two more of Coven's finest.

Firstly, the incomparable Angela Bassett reprises her iconic role of Marie Laveau, due to Cordelia striking a deal with Papa Legba to trade new voodoo queen Dinah Stevens for the old one. However, while Cordelia recounts these events to the evil Michael, we witness them via flashback, finding Marie torturing none other than Madame Delphine LaLaurie in hell.

LaLaurie and Laveau are largely considered Bassett's and Bates' strongest American Horror Story characters, so having the opportunity to see them again - for albeit brief scenes - is pretty spectacular. What a way for the season to go out.
