American Horror Story: Every Evan Peters Character Ranked Worst To Best

9. Edward Mott (Roanoke)

AHS Cult
FX

In the first half of Roanoke, Peters turns up as Edward Philippe Mott, an eccentric heir who built Roanoke House and is an ancestor of Freak Show antagonist Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock). He suffered from severe anxiety and was arrogant and emotionless beyond measure.

But he was also rather captivating, despite only being around for two episodes. Peters brought his usual flare for complexity and daring to the role, making Mott's worst traits all the more pronounced and chilling.

Like Rory Monahan, though, there is a sense that Mott wasn't as compelling and properly utilised as maybe he could have been. His short tenure on the show felt unfair to someone of Peters' talent and popularity, and by the time his role comes to end he winds up feeling like nothing more than a convenient plot device.

Mott was creepy, darkly humorous and bursting with potential, but is unfortunately let down by his disappointingly reduced role.
