American Horror Story: Hotel - 6 Craziest Fan Theories
5. There Is A Reason For The Addiction Demon's 'Equipment'
The Addiction Demon is quite possibly the most terrifying 'thing' that has came out of American Horror Story; Twisty ain't got nothing on him. Everything from the creepy skin to the faceless face and the erm... huge, terrifying penis is the stuff of nightmares. Is his drill like strap on supposed to represent the needle, penetrating the body? But why the rape scene? Is this why Sally is trying to protect people from him? One theory could be that the Addiction Demon doesn't just physically represent what happens to people who suffer from addictions, but also what happens to the family and friends of the addict. The physical addiction of the addict spreads into emotional distress to the people who love them making both parties suffer from the illness/weakness of the individual. The Addiction Demon is purely there to spread pain and suffering and by physically imposing himself on his victims it could symbolise how it feels to mentally suffer from addictions. It is penetrative, it is constant and you are unable to escape it, a bit like what happened to Gabriel.
