American Horror Story: Ranking Every Evan Peters Character From Worst To Best

5. Edward Phillipe Mott

Evan Peters American Horror Story
FX

As previously noted, before taking on the role of Rory in Roanoke, Peters portrayed the fictionalised version of AHS character Edward Phillipe Mott, owner of the cursed Roanoke farmhouse. The celebrated actor had the opportunity to do something different with Mott, who appeared during a flashback sequence (and later as a ghost) during one 'My Roanoke Nightmare'-themed episode.

Mott is incredibly eccentric, which makes him captivating to watch. Moreover, retrospective foreshadowing in regards to the character strengthened the shared American Horror Story universe, as the writers dropped clever hints to suggest that Mott is afflicted with the same mental illness that plagues his descendant Dandy - the antagonist of the Freak Show season, which aired two years prior to Roanoke.

Like several of the actor's other characters, Mott is put through the ringer, which is surprising given that he's only in one episode. Peters truly embodied the character, so much so that it was hard to accept any other actor inhabiting the role. Thankfully, we need not have worried, as viewers never came face-to-face with the 'real' iteration of the character during the 'Return to Roanoke'-themed episodes.
