American Horror Story: Ranking Sarah Paulson's Characters From Worst To Best
8. Ally Mayfair-Richards
If Paulson proved anything in Asylum, it's just how good of a screamer she really is. That quality wasn't simply reserved for Lana Winters, however, as it came in handy for several of her roles on the FX anthology series, with Cult being one of the most obvious examples. The celebrated actress portrayed restauranteur Ally Mayfair-Richards, a young woman who suffered from severe anxiety problems, which were further exacerbated by Donald Trump's election.
While Cult was one of American Horror Story's weaker seasons, Ally was certainly a redeeming factor. The character was full of depth, and her anxiety problems became an obstacle that she worked hard to overcome. What's more, Ally was subjected to some horrifying experiences throughout the clown-driven season, all of which aided in further developing her character.
If the narrative of the season had been stronger, then Ally could've been much higher up this list. However, there were moments of brilliance for her throughout, such as her rise to power in the final episode, which deserve to be commended.
