American Horror Story: Ranking Sarah Paulson's Characters From Worst To Best
7. Billie Dean Howard

While Paulson rose to prominence for her role in the series' second season, it was her performance as psychic medium Billie Dean Howard in Murder House that first introduced viewers to her. Interestingly, Billie Dean is one of Paulson's only characters that did not feature as a protagonist, but that didn't prevent her from becoming one of AHS' most remembered creations.
She was both cocky and sassy, and unlike a lot of other characters in the show, remained unafraid by all of the supernatural goings-on in the Murder House. Considering she primarily featured during conversations with Constance Langdon, there was a risk that Billie Dean could've become nothing more than a sounding board, but some great story decisions ensured that she was able to stand on her own two feet as an original character.
She's also of great importance to the shared American Horror Story universe, as she's one of the few characters to have appeared in multiple seasons of the show - later popping up in both Hotel and Apocalypse. A little more backstory would've been appreciated, but we can't help but love Billie Dean since she was the character that first introduced us to Paulson.
