Another 20 Nostaglic TV Theme Tunes We Just Can’t Let Go

5. Saved By The Bell (1989)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K4iTh1TL9g That's right, children, Disney have actually made good material. Originally a retooling of the short lived (and I'd be surprised if anyone ever heard of it) 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss,' the resulting Saved By The Bell became an incredible hit with children and teenagers of all ages. The show is sort of a comedy version of Beverly Hills 90210 but does feature a lot of surprisingly touching subjects including drug abuse, driving under the influence and environmental issues. Surprisingly, the show only ran for an initial 5 years, with it's successor Saved by the Bell: The New Class ran for 7 and only featured the permanent return of two main cast members. The original show still receives syndication on MTV2 in the US. The credit for the theme goes to Scottish born Larry Weir. A lot of myths proceed about this song and the song was not composed by Scott Gale, however, the original theme (that's right, there was another one) was presented by Michael Damian and used on the show's first season, much like what happened with Fools and Horses. Needless to say this will shock you, but probably not as much as to learn Dustin Diamond later made a career in pornography by directing and releasing his own sex tape. We presume he did this because nobody wanted to leak it?

Interested in all sorts including WWE, Music, Film, TV and Games. Has travelled around a bit to places like California, Ontario and Mexico and plans to do more of the same soon again. Recently I've been writing pieces on my favourite topics which have included obscure theme music from nostalgic shows, Guns N' Roses and a few other surprises I'll be happy to share in time!
