Archer: 10 Best Supporting Characters
1. Woodhouse
Sir Arthur Henry Woodhouse VC, GCB, DSO, DSC, MC, was Sterling Archer's century-old butler, veteran of both world wars and dedicated heroin addict.
Tom Kane briefly voiced Woodhouse during Vice, the fifth season, though since then Woodhouse has largely been absent from the series - having died from a heroin overdose. Archer's eighth season, Dreamland, delves deeper into the death of Woodhouse and reveals his ultimate fate, reflecting the real-life death of George Coe, Woodhouse's original voice actor. This season was dedicated to George Coe.
A generally solitary and chaste figure, Woodhouse suffered the burden of raising a thankless and abusive Sterling Archer, Batman-style. He nonetheless found his release with forays in narcotics and, though Woodhouse's sexuality is something of a mystery, it is revealed in the second season that he had a profound, romantic admiration for the WWI biplane pilot Reggie Thistleton, who died in his arms.
This former love is also the namesake for Reggie the lemur, who made his first appearance in the episode Honeypot, developed a taste for Archer's pudding cups and bit a prostitute - and who Woodhouse taught to help him shoot drugs.
"When I served in the King's African Rifles, the local Zambezi tribesmen called human flesh 'long pig'. Never much cared for it."
