Archer: EVERY Season Ranked Worst To Best
4. Season Seven
The last season to take place in the real world (or, Archer's version of the real world), Season Seven sees the gang move to LA and set up a detective agency. The best of this season is the change in narrative and the genuinely intriguing Hollywood mystery at its centre. The characters are as fun and insightful as ever, and the slight change in setting is welcome, moving away from the days of spies and drug dealers.
On top of the main plot, you've also got some solid one-off episodes, the strongest and most affecting of which sees Archer confront some old bullies, and his sordid past. This season also sees the end to Sterling's feud with Barry, which, whilst often very funny, could drag along a bit too much. Its conclusion, however, is pure gold and well executed.
Like Vice, Season Seven also gains points for its guest stars, primarily Keegan-Michael Key, J. K. Simmons, and Patton Oswalt (a guy who seems to turn up in every show ever). And, of course, could Season Seven be mentioned without the two-episode hostage-party arc, a story which gives audiences a good, hard look at just how badass Sterling, Lana and Pam actually are?
The ending of Season Seven is its highlight, though, packing a mean punch and changing the future of the show forever. On re-watches, the reveal that it was really Archer in the pool is still as shocking as the first time.
