7. The Secret Family Cottage

Of all the awful things Michael's family has put him through over the years, one of the absolute worst is the revelation this season that the family beach cottage his wife Tracey passed away in actually wasn't sold as Lucille and George Sr. claimed, and the entire family knows about it no less.

Michael discovers the truth when he swims too far along the beach and knocks on the door of the cottage to try and get some closure.

He's greeted by Lucille, who explains that the housing market was terrible the year Tracey died, and when he later talks to George Sr. about it, he says he regrets not selling it at the height of the market, when a paralegal he was having an affair with went into insulin shock and died in the cottage. Lovely.
