Arrow: 10 Important Moments From Season 2 So Far

9. Sara Survived The Boat Crash

When Oliver€™s was shipwrecked on the island, we were given to understand that Laurel€™s sister Sara did not survive, but after a first season filled with mourning and false leads on whether Sara was alive or not, it turns out that she surprised us all: she had been alive all these years. After the boat crash, Sara managed to stay afloat on some of the wreckage and was eventually spotted by Ivo and his crew. A year later, Oliver is brought aboard the Amazo and learns Sara is alive and working for Ivo. After Ivo tells Oliver about the Mirakuru serum, he tasks him to find it. Taking some of the Amazo€™s crew with him, Ivo and Sara bring Oliver back to the island, but Shado and Slade manage to rescue him, and Oliver brings Sara with them. Now a foursome, they use the stone to find the sub with the Mirakuru on it. More details to come on that later. In the present, there€™s a new vigilante in Starling City who€™s mostly been protecting women from male attackers - the Black Canary. After she helps Oliver escape a police trap and take down serial killer Barton Mathis, he starts investigating and realizes that it€™s Sara under the mask, but is confused because he thought she died after the events on Lian Yu. Sara explains to him that after the island, she found herself in Nanda Parbat, the same place that Malcolm went, and trained under Ra€™s al Ghul as a member of the League Of Assassins. After fending off Ra€™s Al Ghul€™s agents with the help of Oliver her father, she leaves Starling City so she can keep her family safe. Considering how important Black Canary is to the Green Arrow mythology, it€™s very likely we€™ll see Sara not only come back to Starling City, but at some point in the series pass along the Black Canary identity to Laurel.
