So far Moiras storyline in season 2 mostly revolved around her impending trial regarding her involvement with Malcolm Merlyn and the Glades attack. During the five months between seasons 1 and 2, Thea refused to visit her because she was angry with what her mother had done. Eventually after her close call being kidnapped by the copycat vigilantes, Thea realized her mother had just been trying to protect her children, she forgave Moira and rekindled their relationship. We finally get to the trial in the episode State Vs Queen, where Laurel revealed that Moira had an affair with Malcolm during her marriage to Robert, showing that not only was their relationship was more than just business, but its unlikely Malcolm would have ever killed her or her children. In a stunning move by the jury (and frankly surprised Oliver), Moira is found not guilty on all counts and is free to go home. It will be interesting to see what Moiras social standing will living in a city where almost everyone thinks youre a murderer. After the trial, Moira assumes she is being taken home, but when her driver takes her on a different route, she grows concerned. Pulling into a secluded spot, Moira gets out of the car and asks where she is. The driver tells an off-screen character that he did as instructed and is promptly rewarded with an arrow to the chest.
