Arrow: 10 Non-Powered Superheroes Who Should Appear

6. Katana

As her name suggests, Katana is one DC€™s most famous sword-wielders. Learning the art of combat at a young age, Tatsu Yamashiro became adept at many forms of martial arts. She was close with two brothers named Maseo and Takeo, although she soon realized that she was falling in love with Maseo. When the two of them decided to get married, Takeo did not take the news well and joined the criminal gangs of the Yakuza. Although tragedy struck when Tatsu€™s parents passed away, she gave birth to twin boys soon afterwards. Meanwhile, Takeo rose within the Yakuza ranks and was rewarded with a pair of matching swords, one of which was the Soultaker, a weapon with mystical properties. One day, Takeo showed up at Maseo and Tatsu€™s house to duel his brother to the death. During the fight, a fire consumed the house and Tatsu was knocked unconscious. When she woke up, she witnessed her husband be slain by the Soultaker. Using her combat skills, Tatsu managed to disarm Takeo and take Soultaker away from him. When Takeo fled the scene, she tried to save her children but heard her husband€™s voice telling her it was too late. It turns out Soultaker had imprisoned Maseo€™s soul within the blade. Overcome with grief at the loss of her family, Tatsu vowed to use her talents to fight injustice and make sure nothing like this happened again. Armed with Soultaker and taking the name Katana, she later became a prominent member of The Outsiders, Birds of Prey and in the New 52, the Justice League of America. Katana's story would fit perfectly with the League of Assassins. I find it hard to believe that Malcolm Merlyn and Sara are the only two members to ever leave the League. While the mystical properties of Soultaker don€™t fit within the Arrow universe (unless they someday introduce magic), the rest of Katana€™s origin works great for the show. Keep her family€™s murder intact and have her join the League to learn how to take revenge. However, like Sara, she realizes that the League€™s intentions are wrong and escapes to fight her own crusade against injustice. Work in a plot where Oliver needs to travel to another city, whether it€™s in the U.S. or another country, and have him team up with her at that location to take down a bad guy they€™ve both been tracking.
