Arrow: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Katie Cassidy
4. Her Famous Family
Cassidy comes from impressive acting stock, so it was perhaps inevitable that her career choice would see her going down that same path. Her grandfather was Jack Cassidy, who was an extremely successful Broadway performer - he won a Tony award for She Loves Me - before going on to guest star in TV shows such as Hawaii Five-O, Bewitched, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Columbo, including an episode directed by Steven Spielberg. His first wife, and Katies grandmother, was Evelyn Ward, who was herself a fairly successful stage and TV actress. It is her dad, though, who is the most recognisable - former teen idol David Cassidy, star of the 1970s sitcom The Partridge Family. Although her parents werent together for most of her childhood, and she was predominantly raised by her mother, she did still grow up around her father and the industry, and has been willing to take his advice on board when it comes to acting and choosing roles, saying:
We didnt really talk about the business, but he did say, Dont take a job for the money. Of course, I did in the beginning because I needed to survive! But he also said: Dont do it for fame and if theres a role you love and theyre not going to pay you for it, take it. I definitely agreed with his advice.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
