Arrow: 12 Greatest Plots Of The Series So Far

9. No-Assembly-Required Canary

Season 2 saw the introduction of the first iteration of a Canary on Arrow when Sara Lance exploded onto the scene, swinging her bo staff and defending women to the terror of every murderer, mugger, and rapist in Starling. Sara as the Canary was exactly the heroine that Arrow could handle for one simple reason: she was ready to go from her very first scene in the present. Arrow is the story of Oliver Queen€™s transformation from spoiled playboy with terrible hair to the hero Green Arrow, so the show is best when the focus is on Oliver and his work to save the city rather than on other vigilantes elbowing their way to the front of the pack to grab a mask. Sara got her training from the League of Assassins off-screen, so Arrow didn€™t have to take huge chunks of time away from the title character to justify the woman in black on the streets by his side. There was no assembly required for Sara€™s Canary, and so she was a great fit for the show in the first half of Season 2.
