When it comes to television shows centered around a single lead character whos meant to be a hero, its best if that character doesnt have too many cripplingly awful character traits emphasized right from the series premiere. Unfortunately for Oliver Queen on Arrow, one of the first things that the audience learned about him was that he took his girlfriends sister on a sex cruise that ended in disaster and death. Oliver continuing to bounce from sister to sister through the first two seasons was just gross. Any romance between Oliver and either of the Lances was tainted right off the bat thanks to the sister swapping, and it worked against what was clearly originally intended to be the big romance of the series. If Arrow wanted to sell Oliver and Laurel as an epic love worth rooting for, then Arrow should have given them much less toxic of a backstory to begin with.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
