Arrow: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
6. Quentin Lance
Few characters on TV have ever been put through the emotional trauma that the writers shovelled upon dear old Quentin Lance during his six seasons on the show. While not all of that emotional trauma was necessary, it did make him that much stronger of a character.
Sure, he wavered at times, with the multiple deaths of his daughters causing him to turn to alcohol, but he continued to overcome adversity, struggling through the pain in order to come out the other end, and in doing so, he made both of them (and us) very proud.
An honourable, morally integral but flawed individual, Quentin was undoubtedly one of the show's most human characters and, even as the show (and the wider Arrowverse) became more and more far-fetched, he remained that way, grounding the show with realism at a time when it was in serious need of some.
Moreover, his relationships with daughters Laurel and Sara (especially the former) were emotional highpoints for the show, as was his unorthodox kinship with Earth-2 Laurel. And no matter what was going on with the character, or how good or bad his storylines were, everything about him was immediately elevated by the acting prowess of the incomparable Paul Blackthorne.
