Arrow Season 4: 6 Things The Candidate Got Right (And 4 It Didn't)

8. Got Right - Keeping Darhk Involved

Arrow made a bold decision in its Season 4 premiere by introducing Damien Darhk in quite a big way. He had a number of moments, all of them rather great, from interrupting the Star City officials having a private meeting, to killing one of his henchmen by touching him, displaying his powers in a fight with Oliver, and the unholy alliance he has with Quentin Lance. It made for an emphatic entrance, but with it just being the first episode left a slight problem of how to pace things from there. He's made himself known and is very much a part of things, but you can't go too quickly with it or it'll run out of steam long before May. It's not an easy task, but they strike a pretty good balance here. Neal McDonough is already one of the highlights of this season, needing a line or even just a look to convey a true sense of menace and power, and he manages that again here in scenes with Anarky and Captain Lance.
