Curtis was a breath of fresh air when he was introduced last year. Smart, funny, and awkward, he's very similar to the character Felicity was when everyone first fell in love with her.

However, there is more to him than just being Felicity-lite, and that's a key part of why he needs to be kept around. There's a lot more to come from Curtis, as the show explores his progression into being a crimefighter, a fully-fledged member of Team Arrow, and eventually the superhero Mister Terrific.

Actor Echo Kellum brings some needed moments of levity, but early indications also suggest that he'll be able to hack it in the vigilante world too, and we're only just getting to know his character: at some point down the line killing him off might be a viable option, but in Season 5 it'd just be a waste.
