Arrow Season 5 Finale: 8 Big Questions We Need Answers To

5. What Is Nyssa's Motivation To Get Involved?

Arrow Season 5 Finale Questions
The CW

Anytime the League of Shadows gets involved, things get a whole lot more complicated. With Oliver calling for the help of not only Malcolm Merlyn, but Nyssa al Ghul and her League warriors, there will likely be a lot of tension and in-fighting between the current head of the League and the ex-leader. However, Merlyn's willingness to ignore the League situation in favor of doing whatever's necessary to save Thea makes sense, it's not exactly clear what is motivating Nyssa to get involved.

Although she's been shown to have compassion, Nyssa doesn't initially have much of a connection to the imminent Prometheus/Arrow fight. Once she finds out Talia, her sister, is a primary player in the precedings, her determination to get involved heightens. Maybe she's worried that a non-combated Talia with an army could lead to the League being the next target, as she likely knows what her sister is capable of. Her motivation could also be to simply aid her (technical) husband, but she probably wouldn't be willing to risk so many fighters for a purely compassionate reason.

Since Nyssa's character can be classified as a mix between compassionate and practical, she's likely driven to prevent her sister from gaining more power, as well as potentially assisting in the rescue of innocent lives. Who knows, maybe she's just itching for a good fight with her sister so that she can prove her superiority?
